What it does on Instagram

It reads DMs, story replies, photos and voice notes, answers from your own content, and lands every thread in the same Inbox as your other channels, under the sender's Instagram name.

How it works

Three steps: one in your Quickchat AI account, one in an Instagram sign-in window, and a test DM from another account. There is no Facebook Page to link and no Meta app to create.

1. Create your AI Agent

Give it a name, a personality and instructions in plain language. Paste in your prices, opening hours and FAQ so it answers from your content rather than from generic training data.

2. Connect to Instagram

Open Instagram in External Apps and press Connect to Instagram. Sign in as the Professional account you want answering, leave the message permission on, and allow. The window closes itself.

3. Send a test DM

What Instagram can and cannot carry

Instagram is the quickest channel here to connect and the one with the clearest edges. This integration works on direct messages and nothing else, so it is worth knowing where the line is before a customer finds it for you.

DMs, not comments

Not on this channel

Comments on posts and Reels never reach the Agent, and neither do story mentions. Comment-to-DM automation is not something this does.

What you get

Everything sent to the account as a message does reach it: text, story replies marked as such, photos and videos it can look at, files it is told about by name, and voice notes transcribed to text. A shared post arrives as its message only.

A 24-hour reply window

Instagram lets a business reply for 24 hours after the person's last message. Outside that window nobody can reply, the Agent or you.

What you get

Each new message from the customer starts the window again, and the Agent answers straight away, so it is almost never affected. It matters when a person picks the thread up hours later, which is the argument for letting the Agent answer first.

An Instagram Professional account, either Business or Creator. A personal account cannot receive messages from an app. Switching is free and takes about a minute in the Instagram app under Settings and privacy, then Account type and tools. You do not need a Facebook Page or a Meta Business account.

No. This integration receives direct messages only. Comments on posts and Reels, and story mentions, are not delivered to it, so it cannot see or answer them. If comment automation is the thing you need, this is not the right tool.
